Hello internet

I like drawing but seldom have the time for it.

My first and most important talk, now with english subtitles!

If you like to draw or would like to, you should watch this video.

This is great! I love Puño’s work, and it’s clear that he works hard at it. There’s a spot at around 33 minutes where he talks about how to “steal”. He’s talking about how to appropriate ideas from other artists, and he describes it this way:

"You can’t steal everything. Only crappy thieves steal everything. But we have to be white-gloved thieves. A white-gloved thief doesn’t steal a whole museum in trucks. He comes hanging from the ceiling, takes the best diamond…"

It’s a great way of thinking of it: we don’t want to become the next Chris Ware. We want to borrow his sense of macro and micro, and then mix it with Matisse’s paper-cut shapes, and layer it with Ben Shahn’s lines, and so on.

And yet again, I’m reminded of Austin Kleon’s Steal Like an Artist.

I’d like to think that’s exactly the sort of stunt I’d pull if I were the Queen of anything.

Queen Just Glad To Be Invited To Something Normal For Once
Queen Totally Fine With It If You Just Want To Go For Kebab Sometime
Just Drop Queen A Line
Queen Is Just Saying
